Another interesting names have been added to Pohoda 2018’s lineup. A quality-packed mix of soul, R&B and electronica is what Jessie Ware has to offer at Pohoda 2018. Sophie, who has produced for acts such as Madonna, Vincent Staples or Charli XCX, will make the whole SLSP Space Arena dance with her night Live Set. The 22th edition of Pohoda will bring shoegaze legends Ride and the band BadBadNotGood combining instrumental hip-hop and jazz improvisation. JESSIE WARE
Pitchfork and other influential media’s favorite, Jessie Ware, has Mercury Prize, Mobo Awards or BRIT Awards nominations under her belt and the list also includes this year’s nomination in the category of “British Female Solo Artist”. Each one of her three albums made it to Top 10 on the UK Albums Chart. She’s collaborated with bands and artists such as Florence and the Machine, Disclosure, SBTRKT, Sampha or Ed Sheeran. More here.
RIDE
Almost immediately after band’s formation 30 years ago, Ride became one of the defining stars of shoegaze genre. Their albums Going Blank Again and Nowhere still form part of the best of charts within this genre or music of the 90s in general. After a 21-year-long break, they made a comeback with their new album Weather Diaries (2017). Oxford-based four-piece released their latest EP Tomorrow’s Shore just ten days back. According to Pitchfork, “These leftovers from the UK band’s 2017 reunion album successfully position them in a contemporary context alongside peers like Tame Impala and Caribou.” More here.
BADBADNOTGOOD
The Canadian band BadBadNotGood combines instrumental hip-hop with jazz improvisation. Their covers of hip-hop hits got viral which soon resulted in collabs with the biggest names of the genre such as Kendrick Lamar, Tyler, The Creator, Earl Sweatshirt or Danny Brown. The exceptionally productive released album IV in July 2016. The album features guest contributions including artists Pohoda visitors are familiar with: Samuel T. Herring of Future Islands, Kaytranada or Mick Jenkins. BBC 6 named it “Number One Album of the Year”. More here.
SOPHIE
A Los Angeles-based UK artist Sophie is one of the most sought-after electronic dance music producers and we have a first-hand experience. Her hit “Lemonade” was named one of the best singles of 2014 by The Washington Post, Resident Advisor, Complex and Pitchfork. Last fall, she used her voice in her song for the first time and, also for the first time, revealed her face in a music video. Shortly after the March European premiere of her new show in London, also thanks to the collaboration with DIY magazine, you will get a chance to see her at Pohoda. More here.
