SÓNAR+D TRAVELS TO DUBAI THIS AUTUMN, TAKING PART IN GITEX GLOBAL – THE BIGGEST TECH AND STARTUP EVENT IN THE WORLD

Between the 13th and 18th of October, Sónar+D will present a number of activities as part of GITEX GLOBAL 2024, including an open exhibition area, talks and the presentation of some of the most innovative projects from Sónar 2024.

Sónar will also contribute to the official closing of this great event on Friday, October 18, bringing Eric Prydz’s spectacular three-dimensional HOLO show to the MENA region for the first time.

• Continuing Sónar’s mission to showcase the latest innovations from the world of creative technology, from 13th – 16th of October, Sónar+D will present 7 unique projects in a custom Project Area exhibition space as part of the Expand North Star, startup programme.

• Visitors to the show will be able to get hands on with the latest innovations in AI applied to sound design and synthesis, digital art, animation and data visualization with projects from Datamind Audio, Krea.ai, and a special showcase by Arts Korea Lab.

• Representatives from all these projects will additionally present their work live on stage on October 14th, where they’ll be joined by the BSC Data Viz Group, from long time Sónar+D collaborators Barcelona Supercomputing Center.

• On October 18th, Eric Prydz presents ‚HOLO‘, the closing show of GITEX GLOBAL by Sónar, in association with MPremiere. Taking place for the first time in the MENA region, the show, held at Expo City Arena at Expo City Dubai, merges the music of the international superstar and 3D holographic projections into a one of a kind AV experience.

Exhibition – a taste of Project Area 

Arts Korea Lab brought a taste of Korea’s vibrant art and technology sector to Project Area 2024; they’ll be exhibiting four different projects at Expand North Star. Team Pearl’s ‚Separium: 12th Elevator‘ uses AI and human participation to create dynamic virtual multidisciplinary exhibition spaces; Seungsoon Park demos a pair of projects focused on audio, AI-powered music tool MixAudio and XR soundscape project MindscapeXR; collective_nshp present ‚Neural Tides: Oceanic Neural Granular Synthesizer‚ which uses neural networks to map how marine debris moves throughout the natural world; and 3ARTH’s ‚Echoes of Emotion‚ uses AI to deliver music tailored to each user’s emotional state.

DataMind Audio’s ‚Combobulator‚ uses neural networks ethically trained on world-class sound designers („Artist Brains“) to generate sound. Aimed at creating a sustainable musical ecosystem, it gives producers access to an endless bank of new sounds, while ensuring that artists receive a cut of the profits for their contributions.

Krea.ai makes AI easy for creatives, with intuitive and delightful interfaces that make prompting and art generation simple. Renowned Barcelona-based digital artist Boldtron will represent them at Expand North Star, answering questions and explaining how he uses the Krea suite to get the most out of his AI-generated art.

Talks & Conferences – Bringing Lounge+D to Dubai
 

On October 14th, Expand North Star attendees will be able to hear first hand from Arts Korea Lab (Team Pearl, Seungsoon Park, collective_nshp, & 3ARTH), DataMind Audio and Krea.ai (Boldtron) as they take to Expand North Star’s The Future of Creativity stage to present their work and respond to questions. They’ll be joined by longtime Sónar+D collaborators BSC Data Viz Group from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, who’ll explain how they use supercomputers to analyse data and create highly complex visualisations; as well as model ‚digital twins‘, virtual models and copies of real-life objects, processes and scenarios.

Eric Prydz presents HOLO: GITEX GLOBAL official closing event by Sónar

World-renowned DJ superstar Eric Prydz brings his sensational HOLO show to Dubai for the first time, marking the closing event of GITEX GLOBAL on Friday 18th October.

The show takes place at Expo City Arena, Expo City Dubai and is supported by Dubai Calendar. Prices start from AED295 and available at platinumlist.net

An international networking event by Sónar+D and ME by Melia

Sónar+D will also host a networking event for press and professionals at ME Hotel Dubai, on Sunday 13th October from 20:30 to 23:30. The aim of this event is to connect Sónar+D with the local talent of Dubai, fostering collaboration and exchange between international professionals and the local creative community.

Sónar 2025, Tickets now on sale 

Sónar will take place on June 12, 13 and 14, 2025 in Barcelona. Sónar by Day will take place at Fira Montjuïc and Sónar by Night at Fira Gran Via.
