Following on from the landmark 500th release on Southern Fried, which saw him drop „Role Model“ back in May, label frontman and unmistakable dance music icon Fatboy Slim returns with another larger-than-life dancefloor jam as he joins prolific Berlin-based talent and Arms & Legs imprint boss Daniel Steinberg on 8th November for quirky vocal-led club cut ‘Bus Stop Please’.
Occasionally, a record rolls around that jumps out and grabs you. This is one of those occasions. At its core, „Bus Stop Please“ is an impressive fusion of modern-day Fatboy Slim flavours and the distinctive sound that has seen Daniel Steinberg championed by the likes of Defected, Club Sweat, Play It Down and countless others. It’s full-on, in your face and full of beans from the outset with chunky-bottomed grooves, gluey bass tones, modulating synths and an unforgettable vocal centrepiece for an energetic ride that will keep you moving from start to finish.
The Bus Stop is basically an actual dance culture by the Fat Back Band, it’s like soul version of line dancing. The track is like an 80’s revival of a 70’s dance. Norman took the Charlie Green Bus Stop sample and merges it over Daniel Steinberg’s original track ‘Albatross’ that was sent to Norman as a B-side, however this is where this track started to take form.
„Bus Stop Please“ exemplifies a new-age sonic palette that goes against the grain of massproduced, cookie-cutter dance records, instead electing an approach that continues to burst with creativity, fun and continuous, peak-time moments of hands-in-the-air euphoria.
