BAŽANT POHODA DAY_FM AND NEW ARTISTS ANNOUNCED

East India Youth, Bez ladu a skladu, Midi Lidi, Para, Vec & Škrupo, B-Complex, Jimmy Pé and Kurkus will perform on Wednesday 20 May 2015 at Bažant Pohoda Deň_FM (Bažant Pohoda Day). The schedule of the traditional common event of the festival Bažant Pohoda and Rádio_FM will comprise, besides concerts, also football and table football tournaments, Pohoda shop, and a press conference on the 19th year of the festival Bažant Pohoda. The place of event will change significantly, compared with last years – if the weather is good, we will move to the spacious terrace of the Slovak radio. The capacity of the terrace is only limited by its size, and entrance is free.

The event in the reversed pyramid starts at 8:00 AM. In the programme Ráno na eFeMku (Morning on FM Radio) with Dominika and Martin, you will hear a drum & bass set by B-Complex and a concert by the Slovak alternative legend celebrating 30 years of its establishment this year, Bez ladu a skladu. We will talk about the programme of this year´s Bažant Pohoda at the public press conference before noon. The press conference will be hosted by the moderator of Ráno na eFeMku Martin EGO Staňo. Although his questions are profound, you are welcome to come to the Slovak Radio building and ask anything about the festival.

We will announce the winners of the Public Art Festival Contest, whose creative designs will enrich the grounds of our festival, in the programme Popo_FM with Lucia and Mizzi. The radio broadcast will include the first Bratislava performance of the bizarre formation from Košice – the band Kurkus, a live set will be played byJimmy Pé, and Vec and Škrupo will perform, too.

At 6:00 PM, the evening concert will start, and it will offer the concerts of two of the most favourite bands from both sides of the river Morava: Para and Midi Lidi. The top of the evening will be the concert of a young English William Doyle, famous under his artist name East India Youth. His music with features of electronic, ambient, and krautrock music has immediately gained the favour of both audience and critics. Not surprisingly, his debut album was nominated for Mercury Prize. His second album Culture of Volume was released in April.

In cooperation with the football club AS Trenčín, we will build a football field on the terrace of the Slovak Radio. A team of Rádio_FM, musicians of the performing bands, and our fan team will compete in a small football tournament. The composition of players will be similar for yet another party game – table football.

Stands with refreshment and festival merchandising will be available all the day on the terrace of the Slovak Radio. Bažant Pohoda Deň_FM will begin at eight in the morning and run until ten o’clock in the evening. In case of bad weather, the event will take place in the studio no. 5 of the Slovak Radio.

Bažant Pohoda in the list of the worldʼs and European best festivals and other news of this year

The French website Couvre-feu included Bažant Pohoda among the 10 festivals worth visiting this summer. According to the authors of the chart, our festival is the ideal choice for people looking for excitement, or unconventional space such as the Trenčín airport. In the course of three days, it offers a great mix of music and other kinds of art. Our festival was also listed in the Venngagem chart that placed it among the 25 festivals of the world you should visit before you die. At the end of February, our festival was included in the list of 12 festivals travellers should focus on in 2015, and the list was created by the largest travel agency for students and youth STA Travel.

Today, we started selling the most comfortable accommodation we have ever offered at the festival. In cooperation with the city of Trenčín, we prepared and fully furnished 40 wooden huts for our visitors.

The hut dimensions are 2.5×2 m; it has a large window (without glass filling) with curtains and a sleeping place that accommodates two. A mattress with the dimensions 140x200cm offers comfortable sleep for a couple or parents with small children. Each hut is connected to the mains, has a light bulb, and a power plug. Each hut will be equipped with 2 bed linen, 2 pillows, and 2 blankets. In addition to the protection from possible bad weather, the tiny wooden houses also have a safety advantage – the key. The huts will be situated in two special zones, one in the children’s park for families with children and the other in the tent camp (tickets will be sold for each zone separately). The price per hut for 3 nights for 2 people is €199.

New names at Bažant Pohoda

In recent weeks, a number of bands mostly from the local music scene have been added to our line-up. They come to Bažant Pohoda to celebrate anniversaries and introduce new albums, unconventional projects, and cooperations. After five years, Bez ladu a skladu will perform at Bažant Pohoda, and they will celebrate their 30th birthday here. Para and Puding pani Elvisovej, turning twenty, will join the birthday party. The seasoned musicians will also perform in the newer bands Kurkus and Zlokot. The talents of the Slovak electronic scene, B-Complex and Jimmy Pé, will put on concerts, too. Vec will perform with Škrupo and the accompanying band.

SĽUK (Slovak Folk Art Ensemble) will play two concerts. The folk music of SĽUK in combination with the recognised ethno-jazz ensemble Pacora Trio and the multi-instrumentalist Marek Pastírik led to the creation of the performance Ornamenty. Children can look forward to the musical comedy Zvuky nie sú muky (Sounds are not torture). The festival visitors will be able to enjoy also this year’s Radio_Head Awards (RHA) most successful band – Fallgrapp. Of course, we will welcome another multiple winner of RHA Korben Dallas that will be supported by the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra. Medial Banana will show how the Slovak language suits the genre of reggae. A great loop show and a fistful of optimism will be brought by the young Russian artist living in Bratislava, Gonsofus. Young rockers from PINS will come from behind the English Channel, as well as the exotic Charlotte OC.

On Wednesday morning in eFeM, we will announce what this year’s Bažant Pohoda Deň_FM will look like. We conclude this great deal of positive news with the information that the number of tickets sold has exceeded 10,000.

Anton Maskeliade presents his skills at Bažant Pohoda, the Moscow “gesture wizard”! Young Russian artist Anton Maskeliade is one of the first musicians in the world who creates and edits music and visuals with gesture control technology called “leap motion”. Thanks to this, he got the nickname “gesture wizard”. Maskeliadeʼs genre is somewhere between electronics and contemporary pop. He began his career in the American programme OneBeat intended for the most talented young artists. His debut Subtract the Silence of Myself was released in Russia last year, resulting in the attention of media such as The Guardian, and nomination for “The Steppenwolf Award”, which promotes the creation of innovative and independent artists.

Visitors of the clubs will be able to purchase tickets to Bažant Pohoda 2015, as well as T-shirts, bags, badges, and other merchandise. For each purchased ticket to the festival, the buyer will receive a bonus from Pohoda Shop in the form of a T-shirt.

After Easter, Bažant Pohoda extended the list of confirmed artists with our Austrian neighboursʼ hottest news, as well as another great Icelandic band. Elektro Guzzi, Bilderbuch, and Kiasmos will perform at the Trenčín airport.

He/she who considers techno music impersonal music composed exclusively as a set of loops layered and united in samplers and computers should come to see and hear this music performed by the Austrian trio Elektro Guzzi. The punk assembly: drums, bass, and guitar deliver outstanding electronic music in a purely instrumental version. In 2010, Elektro Guzzi released their self-titled debut album. A year later, the album Parquet followed, for which they won the European Border Breakers Award. Their third studio album Observatory was released last year.

Ten years ago, Bilderbuch sang songs from English fairy tale books and today they sell out sports halls… With the reputation of being the most distinctive indie-rock band in German speaking countries. They merge indie, rock, RnB and hip-hop in their music, but they take inspiration from other genres as well. Internationally-wise, the most significant moment came with their single “Maschin.” Besides a huge success in charts of German speaking countries, a video for the song earned the band several nominations (for instance at the Miami International Film Festival).

Nordic duo Kiasmos consists of Janus Rasmussen and Ólafur Arnalds, the latter well known to the Slovak audience. Ólafur is an Icelandic composer and multi-instrumentalist, and the holder of BAFTA award for the music for the British series Broadchurch. His mixing of genres is not a random stop but the trip itself and in his songs, piano and strings mingle with ambient electronics. He also worked as a sound engineer and while working for the electro-pop band Bloodgroup, he became friends with its central figure Janus Rasmussen. His domain is marked rhythms, quiet basslines, and synth sounds. Kiasmos is a project that fills the space between the thrust of these two exceptional artists. Olafur mentioned for the German magazine Beat that he can finally create music suitable for dancing. For Spiegel, he described their joint creation as a soundtrack for lonely walks across a glacier. They are coming to share a piece of the Icelandic endless solitude with visitors of Pohoda.

More than 10,000 full-festival tickets have already been sold for the 19th edition of the festival. Full-festival tickets for 89 € as well as tickets for those with severe health disability, car-park passes and campervan tickets are also available.
